The industrial area of Baden-Nord is being transformed into a modern mixed-use urban district. This is a challenging process in which Basler & Hofmann has been involved for a number of years, providing external project management and consultancy services.

From industrial area to urban district

The district of Baden-Nord is changing: the former industrial area, which was the industrial base of the mechanical engineering group ABB, is being redeveloped into an urban district with a mix of industrial, commercial, educational and residential uses. This is a long-term process which involves a large number of stakeholders and which has to keep taking on board new developments. Basler & Hofmann has been involved in the planning process for years, providing strategic project management and consultancy services.

Efficient processes

Collaborative work began with the Baden-Nord vocational training centre: the college had five sites which had to be consolidated into one. The initial project was to evaluate possible sites, carry out studies and selection procedures and make preparations for a referendum. Later Basler & Hofmann was involved in reviewing the development plan for the whole area, organised architectural competitions for two high-rise towers and residential buildings and provided the planning team with legal and structural advice. This strategic project management programme is both reliable and ensures that complex operations run smoothly.
