As a designer of railway technology and tracks, Basler & Hofmann has played and continues to play a key role in the construction of Switzerland’s major railway projects such as the Zimmerberg base tunnel, the new Mattstetten-Rothrist line, the Gotthard base tunnel and the Ceneri base tunnel.

From specialist engineering to overall design

Basler & Hofmann has the lead role in IG gobatech which is responsible for designing the track, tendering for contracts and supervising construction work on the Gotthard and Ceneri base tunnels. The company’s involvement in the construction of the Zimmerberg base tunnel has been even more extensive. The railway engineering team was responsible for tendering for contracts and supervising the construction work for the entire line.
