In memory of Ernst Hofmann, 20 June 1929 – 10 September 2023

As one the founders of Basler & Hofmann, Ernst Hofmann shaped our company’s values and business models for decades. Ernst Hofmann died at the age of 95 on Sunday, 10 September 2023. He was and will remain a role model for many friends and colleagues.

Our identity has been heavily influenced and determined by Ernst Hofmann. He placed the needs of people at the heart of how we think and act as a business and, in doing so, laid the foundations for the company’s success. Our faith in our employees, our dedication to quality and our ability to value commitment will remain key pillars of our business long into the future.

Ernst Hofmann’s honesty and modesty gave him incredible charisma. With his positive attitude, he understood how to pave the way, create understanding and inspire courage. He believed that our profession could and should play a key role in overcoming the challenges in our society and, as President of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers FIDIC, he was able to live out this conviction and have an international impact.

We will treasure the memories of Ernst Hofmann and his pioneering creative force. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.
