Cornel Waltert became fascinated with railway infrastructure during his studies at ETH Zurich. His master's thesis focused on project planning for a future underground railway station in Lucerne. After graduating, he worked as a project engineer and manager for a large Swiss planning and construction company. During this time, he continued his education by studying business administration at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Cornel Waltert joined Basler & Hofmann in Lucerne in 2019. He has headed the Railway Construction team since the beginning of 2022. His professional career has involved him in various railway projects, including the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the Bommerstein Tunnel and the upgrade of several stations to make them accessible to the disabled. With his knowledge and wealth of experience, he supports railway operators as an overall planner, client advisor or project manager.

Our projects are as individual as the people who work on them. No project and no team are ever the same. That makes work very exciting.
