Thomas Hirt

Dipl. Civil Eng.

Technical Director Road Department

Thomas Hirt

Thomas Hirt has already planned and renovated a good many kilometres of motorway in his career: following his initial experience in municipal civil engineering, the qualified civil engineer HTL moved from Lucerne to Germany straight after the country’s reunification, jointly planning major infrastructure projects in Halle an der Saale and in Rostock and taking on responsibility for construction of two new sections of the A20 federal motorway as project manager. Thomas Hirt has been at Basler & Hofmann in the Roads department since 1998, first as a project manager and then as head of department. Today, in view of his standing as a leading expert, his services as an overall project manager are in demand when it comes to complex motorway projects and projects involving urban civil engineering.

What fascinates you about your work?

I am fascinated by the interaction between all the parties involved in large-scale projects with 30 or more internal and external members. I find it particularly rewarding to lead and guide this process across all stages of the problem-solving process, especially in the very early project phases.

What is different about working at Basler & Hofmann?

The diversity of our services – there is hardly any area for which no contact person is available. In addition to this, I particularly value the open and cooperative working atmosphere.
