Bernhard Trommer

Bernhard Trommer discovered his passion for geology and geotechnics while studying at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, before expanding his knowledge in his role as a research assistant to Professor Hans-Jürgen Lang at the Institute of Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics. After joining Basler & Hofmann in 1979, the civil engineer soon progressed to the role of project manager for various construction lots as part of the construction of the Zurich suburban railway (S-Bahn) system. He then went on to earn broad recognition as a highly experienced geotechnics engineer during the course of numerous further projects. Today, Bernhard Trommer is a sought-after specialist both in the evaluation of complex cases of damage and in challenging geotechnical projects both in Switzerland and abroad.

What fascinates you about your work?

In my work I am fascinated by the diversity of assignments and the complexity that arises in the interaction between the specialist disciplines concerned and all of the parties involved. Throughout my entire professional career I have almost never seen the same assignment come along a second time.

What is different about working at Basler & Hofmann?

Basler & Hofmann offers me the best possible conditions for developing my full potential in my work. The flat management structure and the highly interdisciplinary orientation of the workforce provide an ideal framework for solving challenging and exciting problems.
