Jean-Claude Griesser

After several periods of study at the University of California in Berkeley and a number of years of academic work at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, the doctor of geophysics joined Basler & Hofmann in 1985 – and stayed. Jean-Claude Griesser, who specialises in seismology, geothermal energy and environmental remediation, studied the seismic hazards of nuclear installations before going on to concentrate on the inspection and remediation of contaminated sites, especially large fuel depots. Jean-Claude Griesser was the head of Environment and Transport Planning from 2003 to 2016. Today, as corporate mentor, he oversees interdepartmental projects and is on the Supervisory Board of Basler & Hofmann West AG. In addition to this, he also contributes his experience in the tertiary education sector via his role as a member of the civil engineering technical committee at the HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil.

What fascinates you about your work?

I find it fascinating to supervise and support – from idea to implementation – the development of new services that often have an interdisciplinary character and involve all of the companies within our group.

What is different about working at Basler & Hofmann?

Staff are given the opportunity to work as a part of an experienced team in a working environment that, on the basis of high quality and trust, actively encourages them to take an independent approach to project management and to take on responsibility.
