Franziska Nyfeler

Franziska Nyfeler actually started out her professional life in medicine. Following her apprenticeship as a biomedical analyst, she stayed with the laboratory at UniversityHospital Zurich for a further seven years, and simultaneously obtained a higher education entrance qualification on a part-time basis. She then went on to study Environmental Engineering at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Wädenswil. For her dissertation in soil protection, she was able to rely on her in-depth knowledge from her former laboratory work. Her fascination for soil brought her to Basler & Hofmann in 2008, and she has since been supervising soil-related work on construction sites of various sizes in both the planning and execution phases. Franziska Nyfeler completed a part-time qualification in Pedological Site Support in 2013. In addition to her work in soil protection, she also evaluates construction chemicals and their impact on the environment and prepares environmental impact reports.

What fascinates you about your work?

Every project is different and requires unique solutions. It’s fascinating and diverse, you get to know new people and are always part of a project team, some of them smaller, some larger.

What do you find makes a project particularly enjoyable?

When collaboration within the team and with clients is constructive and respectful, and satisfaction with what has been achieved can be felt by both sides. And, of course, when I can make a difference.
