Beat Bürkli

Draughtsman/designer

Vocational trainer

Beat Bürkli

Beat Bürkli is somewhat of an institution at Basler & Hofmann. He was there back in 1987, when the engineering firm was still called PlüssMeyerPartner. He started off as a reinforced concrete draughtsman in Structural Engineering. Early in his career, he started to help out with bridge engineering, and since 2012, he has been a permanent member of that team. It was clear that, in his role as draughtsman, he would also supervise the apprentices. In 2008, the search was on to find a new person to be in charge of vocational training, and Beat Bürkli was selected to be the new “schoolmaster”. “I really enjoy supporting young people on their path through education and training them to become draughters,” he says.

What fascinates you about your work?

I love the many different aspects of this job. Each project is different – you can see how a building or a bridge is made, from the plans right through to the finished edifice.

What is different about working at Basler & Hofmann?

I’m always able to contribute to exciting projects. The teams and the atmosphere at work are truly great.
