Helena Zurkirchen

Following her education in commercial studies and some travelling, both at home and abroad, Helena Zurkirchen spent several years in the human resources department of a major retail trade company, where she trained as an HR expert on a part-time basis. Even after starting a family, she continued to work for a number of companies on a part-time basis. Her current job at Basler & Hofmann involves many different aspects of human resources management. The most important aspect here, she says, is her responsibility to be available as a service provider and a sparring partner for employees and managers alike when it comes to personnel matters.

What fascinates you about your work?

I enjoy the variety and diversity of tasks, but my favourite aspect is that human resources entails working closely with people. I am able to contribute personal experience and knowledge from previous jobs, which helps me to utilise all aspects of the human resources trade.

What other profession could you imagine yourself in – and why?

I could picture myself in a job in the graphics or advertising industry. I think it would be incredibly exciting to awake something within others, with just a few pictures, a bit of music or some targeted messages.
