Silvio Zala

For Silvio Zala, it is important that we use natural resources in such a way that we ensure that future generations can also enjoy a high quality of life. Born in southern Graubünden, he studied Environmental Science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and later earned a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Spatial Planning from the HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil. His passion for sustainability led him all the way to South America, where he lived and worked for five years in Bolivia as, among other things, an environmental and infrastructure technician for the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. Silvio Zala has worked at Basler & Hofmann as a highly sought-after expert on sustainable building and spatial planning since 2013. Whether Swiss Sustainable Building Council (SGNI) or 2000-watt society: Silvio Zala is a master when it comes to navigating the jungle of sustainability models and labels.

What fascinates you about your work?

I really appreciate that my job allows me to contribute to the success of our sustainability goals and help to improve the quality of life for future generations.

What other profession could you imagine yourself in – and why?

I think it would be interesting to be a teacher. I imagine that it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to pass on your knowledge to your students.
