Marius Junker

Marius Junker is a project manager in the Water department and property protection officer at Basler & Hofmann. He first became interested in water while studying Geoinformatics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, and the topic has fascinated him ever since. Directly after completing his studies, Marius Junker continued his academic career in the sciences as an assistant in the River Engineering department of ETH Zurich’s Laboratory for Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology. After three years he left academia, managing a number of flood protection and river engineering projects at an engineering firm. He then joined Basler & Hofmann in 2012, bringing his expertise in the areas of flood protection, revitalisation and near-natural hydraulic engineering, property protection including alarm and emergency planning, and identification and delineation of bodies of water.

What fascinates you about your work?

The requirements of modern hydraulic engineering are extremely varied and require an interdisciplinary approach. When we plan and design the course of streams and rivers, we create high-quality natural habitats within arable land or in residential areas.

What is different about working at Basler & Hofmann?

Basler & Hofmann is an engineering firm that possesses excellent knowledge and a great deal of experience in all of its areas of activity. The employees support one another. Everyone involved in the projects benefits from this, as do the projects themselves.
