Flood protection: Alpine Rhine, mouth of the river Ill to Lake Constance

Project overview

The main aim of the large-scale binational project is to improve flood protection for the densely populated area of the Rhine Valley between the mouth of the river Ill and Lake Constance. At the same time, the ecological condition of this 26-kilometre stretch of the Rhine is to be improved and its function as a recreational area reinforced – under consideration of other interests such as potable water supply and agriculture.
