
The main aim of the large-scale binational project is to improve flood protection for the densely populated area of the Rhine Valley between the mouth of the river Ill and Lake Constance. At the same time, the ecological condition of this 26-kilometre stretch of the Rhine is to be improved and its function as a recreational area reinforced – under consideration of other interests such as potable water supply and agriculture.
Leadership and management of an international team of planners for option analysis and the preparation of the general project and environmental impact report. Working in various areas regarding planning and directing the course of the river, such as freeboard and overload, cost-benefit analysis, materials management and cost estimates.
