As head of the Water Department, Isabelle Rytz Pfund deals with water in all its forms, from floodwater through wastewater to drinking water. Here she models sewer systems for numerous municipalities in the cantons of Zurich and Uri, and was responsible for hydrodynamic calculation for the city of Winterthur, for example. Internally, she was involved with the development of the Basler & Hofmann Academy.

What fascinates you about your work?

Every project brings a new and exciting challenge. In exchange with colleagues, our aim is then to find the optimal solution for the task.

What other profession could you imagine yourself in – and why?

Zoo director. I am fascinated by the challenge of managing a complex infrastructure while at the same time meeting both the demands of animal welfare and the needs of the public.
