Karin Derstroff knows the traffic challenges of small communities just as well as those of international cities with millions of inhabitants. She grew up in Germany and studied Spatial and Environmental Planning at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern. After completing her studies, Karin moved to London, where she worked for 14 years as a project manager in a planning office and in the public sector, implementing various projects in the field of urban transport planning. Her experience includes developing traffic strategies and overall traffic concepts, road space design, analysing mobility data and preparing traffic forecasts. Karin moved to Switzerland with her family in spring 2019 and joined Basler & Hofmann as a project manager for transport, mobility and space

Mobility needs are constantly changing. It’s exciting to be able to help shape them.
What other profession could you imagine yourself in – and why?
Sound engineer: a profession that would combine my love of music and my interest in engineering.
