Sustainable construction is a topic which has kept Severin Lenel busy for over 30 years. He studied Architecture and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering and an Executive MBA from the University of St.Gallen. After almost 10 years working as an architect, Severin Lenel took over as head of the Energy and Ecology Specialist Authority for the Municipal Office for Structural Engineering of the canton of St. Gallen. He also founded his own consultancy firm for sustainable construction. In 2005, he joined Intep Integrale Planung as managing director of the company’s Zurich office. He went on to set up the company’s branch office in St. Gallen in 2010, before taking over as sole proprietor in 2018. The Intep St. Gallen team has been part of Basler & Hofmann since September 2021. Severin Lenel uses his considerable experience in the areas of sustainability concepts and certifications to advise clients in the public sector and private companies. He is a member of the board of the Sustainable Construction Network Switzerland (Netzwerk Nachhaltiges Bauen Schweiz, NNBS) and a Minergie and Ecobau specialist partner. He also works as a lecturer at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences on sustainable construction, passing on his extensive expertise to the next generation.

What fascinates you about your work?

Every day brings new tasks and new challenges along with it. I also believe that with the work I do as a sustainability expert, I am able to make an important contribution to society.

What do you find makes a project particularly enjoyable?

Projects that give me chance to meet inspiring people – people I can work with to develop innovative solutions. With the right team, you can move mountains.
