Andreas Grossenbacher is an architect specialising in sustainable construction and renovation. After completing his architecture degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), he led numerous projects at architectural firms in Zurich and Aargau, ranging from residential buildings to schools and administrative buildings. He brings extensive experience across all SIA phases, including execution and site management. A key focus of his work is the design of energy-efficient and resource-conserving buildings, particularly those using timber construction. He possesses expertise in the Minergie-Zusatz ECO and SNBS certification systems – both in project implementation and assessment. He has headed the Minergie-ECO & SNBS certification body since 2024 and has been a member of the Minergie-ECO specialist group since 2025. Andreas combines planning experience with systems knowledge and an eye for holistic sustainability in building construction.

Sustainable building is more than just a job – it’s a mindset. Those who work in this field combine technical expertise with ethical standards and actively help shape a future worth living in. The work is concrete, measurable and meaningful. 

When do you particularly enjoy a project?

As a sustainability expert, I see myself as a bridge-builder between vision and reality. When I manage to bring all the stakeholders together so that every part of the project meshes seamlessly, positive progress is guaranteed.
