Basler & Hofmann becomes newest member of buildingSMART International

Basler & Hofmann has joined the buildingSMART International organisation as a member. buildingSMART is the worldwide association for the building industry that develops and defines open data standards for the planning, construction and management process of buildings and infrastructures.
The most important parties involved in the entire life cycle of buildings and infrastructures have come together at buildingSMART International – from planning and construction companies to infrastructure managers such as railway companies and airports to software developers. Basler & Hofmann decided to join buildingSMART International because international standards are especially vital for digital cooperation. “It is important that we, as a Swiss company, are involved,” says CEO Dominik Courtin.
The focus of buildingSMART lies on the development of open data standards for the digital work processes of the industry. These standards are developed by the members in topic-specific working groups. “We have acquired valuable experience from our projects in the digital planning and construction process for both structural engineering and infrastructure construction. With this expertise, we want to be engaged in the standards of the future and contribute to exploiting the potential of uniform digital work processes in the industry,” says Dominik Courtin about the decision.
