Basler & Hofmann supports award-winning Swiss pavilion “Svizzera 240: House Tour” at the Biennale in Venice

This year’s Venice Architecture Biennale started with a highlight for Switzerland. For the first time, the Swiss pavilion won the Golden Lion for Best National Participation. Entitled “Svizzera 240: House Tour”, the pavilion explores contemporary Swiss domestic space. Basler & Hofmann is supporting the original exhibition of the young team of architects, Alessandro Bosshard, Li Tavor, Matthew van der Ploeg and Ani Vihervaara.

In 2017, the design of the Swiss pavilion was decided by means of a competition for the first time. The winning project was “Svizzera 240: House Tour” by the young team of architects, Alessandro Bosshard, Li Tavor, Matthew van der Ploeg and Ani Vihervaara. The project focuses on “housing”, or to be more precise, domestic space, generally within a room height of 240 cm, and explores the essence of its typically Swiss character. When Alessandro Bosshard presented the project to us, we were impressed – by both the concept and the bold and painstaking approach of the young team. The pleasure of their Golden Lion award is thus all the greater.
