Altdorf bypass and diversion of Gotthardstrasse

Project overview

The new access route to the Gotthard Base Tunnel necessitated extensive adjustments to the existing infrastructure in the Reuss valley in the canton of Uri. Various municipal and cantonal roads needed to be diverted or built. With this aim in mind, the new Altdorf bypass road with the Wysshus roundabout and the diversion of the Gotthardstrasse were implemented, which also encompassed the Erstfeld underpass and the Lindenried roundabout.
