Facade of Cinémathèque suisse in Penthaz near Lausanne

Project overview

At the suggestion of the same client as of the Collection Centre of the Swiss National Museum in Affoltern am Albis, Cinémathèque suisse was also clad in raw steel plates, which – in complete contrast to the cultural goods stored inside – are exposed to unprotected aging. For both of the buildings we refrained from using any weatherproofed steel, hence we consciously relied on the scientifically proven work on corrosion of construction steel exposed to rural environment, that we compensated with a sacrificial layer for overall protection.
