Flood retention area in Hegmatten, Winterthur

Project overview

The town of Winterthur is at risk of flooding from the river Eulach. To provide protection against high water, in the event of flooding part of the Eulach and other streams are diverted onto the land of the gliding airfield and the Hegmatten football facilities, where they are held back with an embankment that is 1.5 km long and up to 10 m high in some places.
