Revitalization of the Aare river in Felsenau, Bern and Bremgarten

Project overview

The Aare river was revitalized over a length of some 700 m in the area of Felsenau, Bern and Bremgarten. The bank and riverbed were upgraded and structured with root wads, rock vanes with deadwood cores and through the creation of gravel deposits. At the same time, the settlement area was protected with a flood protection wall with underground sealing wall, embankments and mobile flood defence measures.
