SBB: construction and expansion of the Mattstetten‒Rothrist line

Project overview

The new line between Mattstetten and Rothrist is the heart of the Rail 2000 project. Travel time between Zurich and Bern is to be cut from 72 to 57 minutes thanks to a designed speed of 200 kilometres per hour. The project comprises railway technology for the entire new line as well as the expanded line.
