Solar power for trams in Zurich

Project overview

In future, the trams of Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich, the public transport operator in the city of Zurich, are also to run on solar power. The Kalkbreite tram depot has been extensively redeveloped and covered with an environmentally valuable green roof. Here, the photovoltaic system needed to meet the requirements for a green roof on the one hand, but it also needed to fit in with the appearance and design of the building on as well.
