Structural safety of Swiss nuclear installations

Project overview

Since 1973, Basler & Hofmann has performed the role of inspector for the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI supervisory authority regarding the structural safety of constructions and installations at nuclear power plants and storage buildings for radioactive materials. This inspection work involves new, converted, extended and retrofitted buildings.

Inspection of structural project documentation for dimensioning, calculation and construction. Static and dynamic comparative analysis for verification of structural safety. Assessment of hazard assumptions, especially for unusual influences such as earthquakes, floods and plane crashes. Joint involvement in international projects with model calculations regarding the behaviour of safety-relevant structures and installations under extreme influences.
