Test engineer services: ÖBB Rheinbrücke bridge, Lustenau

Project overview

The ÖBB twin track extension between St. Margreten (Switzerland) and Lustenau (Austria) required two bridges – one over the Rhine river and one over motorway N1 – with span widths of 80 metres. Given the large span width and the fact that the bridge had to be built next to the Rhine river and then slid into place, steel was generally the material chosen. Only the arch subject to pressure loading was built from concrete.
