West Link cross-city link in Gothenburg, Sweden

Project overview

The eight-kilometre-long West Link suburban railway tunnel passes below the centre of Gothenburg. Three new underground train stations will be built in addition to the double-track tunnel. The soil is made up alternately of hard gneiss and soft clay in groundwater. There is an extremely limited amount of space available in the city for installation and construction sites.
