Zurich cross-city link: Löwenstrasse railway station and Weinberg tunnel

Project overview

The new Löwenstrasse underground railway station at Zurich main station and the connected 4.8-kilometre-long Weinberg tunnel allow for a new continuous double-track line from Zurich to Oerlikon. The large inner-city construction site called for sophisticated logistics and complex monitoring with emergency and event management.

Preliminary study, project planning, invitations to tender and implementation of conventional and machine boring through rock and water-bearing granular soil for the main tunnel, the rescue tunnels with cross-connections and a cavern for the assembly of the TBM.
