Isolation units for livestock and horses at the VetSuisse veterinary clinic
The new full and semi-isolation units make it possible to isolate animals with infectious pathogens in a targeted and safe manner. These structural measures complement the organizational precautions. The new units thus ensure a much safer day-to-day hospital routine by significantly curbing the spread of infectious diseases.
The challenge is that veterinary clinics – unlike laboratories or laboratory animal facilities – are not subject to clearly defined risk classifications and standardized structural and organizational requirements. In a veterinary clinic, isolation measures must be designed flexibly, as the pathogen spectrum is often not yet clearly known when the animals are admitted. At the same time, it must be possible to integrate the isolation measures into ongoing clinic operations without restricting them.
We advise our client in the planning and design phase and accompany the implementation of the isolation stables for farm animals and horses. We provide support in determining the leaktightness requirements, designing the ventilation system and creating material, animal, personnel and waste flows. In this way, we ensure that contamination can be effectively avoided in routine operations.
