Schwamendingen enclosure: BSA
The enclosure of the A1 and A40 highways in Zurich-Schwamendingen drastically reduces noise and exhaust pollution in the district. The approximately 2-kilometer motorway section includes the existing Schöneichtunnel and the new enclosure. Basler & Hofmann was responsible for the planning and local site supervision for the operation and safety equipment.

Basler & Hofmann was responsible for the local construction management of the operating and safety equipment (OSE) from 2017 to 2024. The BSA comprised all electrical, electromechanical and electronic systems and their infrastructure, which together ensure the safe operation of the tunnel. This included systems for signalling and ventilation, for escape routes and in the event of a fire.
The 1.7 kilometre-long enclosure has four technical centres, three of which were newly built. The existing Schöneich technical centre was rebuilt during operation. Basler & Hofmann planned the four technichal centres (Schöneich conversion, new Schörli, Aubrugg and Tierspital buildings) and provided support during the construction period.
