Marius Ammann
Head of Geotechnics Infrastructure

Marius Ammann has been head of the Geotechnics Infrastructure department at Basler & Hofmann since 2025. The civil engineer, who holds a degree from ETH Zurich, has many years of experience in demanding infrastructure projects. His areas of expertise include foundation engineering, special civil engineering and railway station construction. Together with experts from the building construction sector, he plans and implements pile-slab foundations with complex soil-structure interactions. As overall project manager for large-scale projects such as the expansion of the Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn (SZU) underground station at Zurich Main Station and the expansion of the SBB railway junction in Bern, he coordinates public and private stakeholders and specialist departments – from structural engineering and fire protection to architecture. His strength lies in organising the optimal interaction between technology and people. Even during his studies, as president of the ETH Concrete Canoe Club, he combined engineering thinking with team spirit – a principle that still shapes his project work today.
The trusting relationships, the appreciative working environment and the interest in employees create a very good climate for great performance. At Basler & Hofmann, knowledge is readily shared across departments. And various social and sporting events ensure that we are well connected with each other.
I am motivated by working together as a team to drive a project forward. I also enjoy finding optimal solutions under complex conditions that are implemented on time and to the satisfaction of the client. It is particularly fulfilling to see the plans become reality on the construction site – and then to celebrate the goals we have achieved together.
